Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Did current events. Check the schedule, is it your turn on MONDAY?
  • Handed in vocabulary #14, did vocabulary #15.
  • Started the ayl on p234. #1-11 are due on MONDAY. You should be AT LEAST halfway finished. Format your assignment properly. That means a proper title, your name, class, date, & writing out the questions.
  • Talked about ppm & did some examples. What is ppm? Complete the worksheet you got & hand it in. We did the first question together, if you have questions, ASK.
  • Started the "quick lab" on p238, it is due on MONDAY.
  • TSQ4R p235-242.
  • Bring your QUIZ on Monday, we will be reviewing it.
  • You need to focus in class. If you are socializing or otherwise not working, I can only assume that you have finished everything and know everything and are ready for a quiz.

Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Did Current Events - should be an easy 5% of your grade, you just have to be ready.
  • Got vocabulary #14. Handed in vocabulary #12 & 13.
    Up to vocabulary #13 should be complete and in your vocabulary duotang, this should be left in the classroom at all times. This should have been another easy 5% of your grade.
  • Reviewed lockdown procedures. There is a greater possibility of a real lockdown than a real fire.
  • You need to take this seriously, if you endanger your classmates, you will be sent into the hallway - which is not a safe place to be during a lockdown.
  • Handed in our Inquire on p231.
  • Finished our station for the environmental recovery project. Based on your data & your report, do you think I would hire you again?
What do you think of your behaviour?
What about your work ethic?


  • You saw your Marks today. What needs to change?
  • They are printing reportcards tomorrow. Do you think I will have time to mark and enter what you handed in today? I told you two weeks ago the cut off was last THURSDAY.
  • Please write a Journal Entry for Thursday. Your journal entry should be about your progress in science up to now, and what you can do to improve your marks. Two paragraphs.

Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Had current events. Time is running out to get these marks people.
  • Did not do vocabulary. Are your duotangs up to date? Have you handed it in? Marks are done for term one.
  • Got the data needed to create the graph for Inquire p231. The entire activity is due on TUESDAY.
  • Watched a short video and set up our groups for our Environmental Chemistry Recovery project.
  • Prepared for our part of the project by choosing our assignment and reading the requirements of it.

  • Wrote a Quiz on Section 1.0. How do you think you did? The quizzes are marked & the grades, generally speaking, are not ones to be proud of.
  • Did a journal entry about our quiz. You should have completed 5 journal entries.
  • Did an Interim Self-Evaluation. You should have been honest with yourself. You have signed it & I have signed it. Take it home, talk to your parents about it & bring it back after break signed by your parents.
  • Handed in Vocabulary #11.
  • Watched Planet Earth Mountain Ecosystems. What type of ecosystem do we live in?
  • Are you UP TO DATE? There should be no surprises come report card time. Are you doing your work? Are you doing your work WELL?
  • You have a schedule for CURRENT EVENTS. MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHEN YOUR TURN IS.

  • Had a Homework check. It needs to be done WHEN I CHECK IT.
  • Reviewed different methods of substance/chemical transport. What is the difference between active & passive transport? What is the difference between osmosis & diffusion?
  • Do "Focus on" sia9 p211 #1-2 & sia9 p211 ayl #1-11. Due WEDNESDAY.
  • Looked at the Unit Review - there is a nice summary of the concepts you should know & understand.
  • QUIZ ON SECTION 1.0 WEDNESDAY.

  • Handed in Vocabulary #9, got Vocabulary #10 - Due Monday.
  • Do c&r sia9 p203 #1-9. Due Monday.
  • READ ONLY sia9 p204-209, Omit p207.
  • Focus on Figure 1.30, sia9 p 208. Do you understand it? Can you explain it in your own words?
  • Read sia9 p210, Write a JOURNAL ENTRY about the two questions at the end of the description of chemists. EACH question should be ONE paragraph long. Don't forget to give your journal entry an appropriate TITLE. What else should I see on your journal entries?
  • Sang the Acids & Bases song for Ms. Coole :)
  • Do c&r sia9 p209 #1-8 - hmmm did you notice that we have answered some of these questions before? Due Monday.

  • Did current events. Okay Ms. Wilson did current events, why was no one ready? I expect you all to be ready when it is your day to present.
  • What did we learn about carbon dioxide and the ocean?

  • Talked about atoms, what does an atom look like? How do the different parts of an atom compare to one another?
  • Did a work sheet to help us learn how to use the periodic table, and figure out what categories the elements fall into. Due Thursday.
