Today in SCIENCE we:

  • Had current events!! GREAT JOB...remember it is an easy 5% of your grade!
  • Handed in Vocabulary #7, got Vocabulary #8.
  • Watched Planet Earth fresh water systems, wrote a journal entry - what is a healthy ecosystem?
  • TSQ4R sia9 p 191-195, OMIT p192 & 194 - we have reviewed pH before, why is pH an important environmental characteristic?
  • Complete c&r #1-7 sia9 p195

Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Had Current Events! Great Job. Is it your turn on FRIDAY? Check the schedule.
  • Handed in Vocabulary #6.
  • Got Vocabulary #7.
  • Had a homework check on our TSQ4R. What did you give yourself out of 10? It needs to be done WHEN I CHECK it.....that is the point of a homework check!
  • Did c&r on sia9 p190 #1-11. You need a proper title, to write down the questions (this way I know you've read it at least once), and to answer the questions in complete sentences. Due FRIDAY.
  • We talked about why the LHC was shut down.
  • We learned the acids & bases song!! We got a hand out that we completed while listening to one of the BEST most INFORMATIVE songs of all time. Hey, it is up there with the elements song!

  • Had current events. GREAT job to the ONE person who had their work done! Is it your turn on Wednesday? Check the schedule.
  • Handed in vocabulary #5.
  • Handed in our element paragraphs & squares for the periodic table.
  • Got vocabulary #6, due Wednesday.
  • Did the give it a try activity on p183. JUST THE PART ABOUT FINDING THE NAME OF THE ELEMENTS.
  • Talked about TSQ4R - what is it? What do the letters stand for?
  • Look at the key concepts and learning outcomes sections in your textbooks.
  • Used the TSQ4R method to take notes on sia9 p180-190. Omit p181 & 189.
  • Did you ask 5 good questions? Did you answer your questions? How many points of notes did you take?
  • Are your notes properly labelled with a title (that includes page numbers), your name, class, and the date?

Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Got vocabulary #5 - due Monday.
  • Title page on Environmental Chemistry - due Monday.
  • Reviewed our hypotheses, observations, & variables worksheets. Do you UNDERSTAND them?
  • Had a Current Events presentation/example today. You will start doing you own presentations on MONDAY - is it your turn? BE READY.
  • Chose our element, did some research about it. Can you answer the who, what, why where, when and how about your element? What does it look like? What is it used for? What are the properties and characteristics of your element?
  • Did you make your "square" of our periodic table? It is due on MONDAY.

  • Handed in our Lab Safety Contracts (blue form)
  • Talked about the periodic table of elements & listened to a song. What trends do we see on the table? What information can we get from it?
  • Which element would you like to be?? Choose an element for WEDNESDAY.
  • Got a rubric for our Environmental Chemistry title page. FOLLOW this rubric when making your title page. DUE ON WEDNESDAY.
  • Got vocabulary list #4 - due Wednesday.

Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Watched a safety video.
  • Did our lab safety quiz.
  • Got our lab safety contract, to be brought back SIGNED on Monday.
  • Watched a video about rainbows & wrote a journal entry about "what kind of science" we saw in it. Your journal entry should be in your journal duotang.
  • Got a worksheet on variables & observations - due Monday.
  • Watched a "rap" video about the Hadron Particle Smasher. Then we watched a National Geographic video about the smasher & the results of today's big experiment. What are they doing & why?
  • Got 7 more vocabulary words, due MONDAY. Don't forget you need to include the term, definition (in your own words), a picture, & a sentence that uses the term correctly.

  • Completed our RiverWach Journal Entry & put it in our duotangs.
  • Took notes on HOW we were going to tackle our Vocabulary words.
  • Your vocabulary example was: Independent Learner. You must include a definition in your own words, a picture, & use the word correctly in a sentence.
  • Got 30 vocabulary words to define, due Tuesday.
  • We reviewed the guidlines for current events.
  • We chose a news article and worked on a practice write up. DUE Tuesday.
